The recent seeding by drone in a cutblock near Slave Lake is completed and now it’s a matter of waiting to see what happens. David Price of Natural Resources Canada says there were “some technical snags” during the May 17 trial, but the project was wrapped up over the next few days.
Part of the test is a plot where 50 of the ‘seed pods’ were hand-planted and marked with flags. They’ll be compared to the ones that were fired from the drone.
“We aim to carry out a full assessment of the trial towards the end of August,” says Price. “At that point we should know just how successful the planting has been.”
