On Oct. 9-10, 2018 Desmarais RCMP arrested two suspects in relation to a case of arson and mischief from early this year.

A 24-year-old from Wabasca, along with a 17-year-old youth have been charged in the Jan. 18 incident.

They were both released with conditions and are set to appear in Desmarais Provincial Court on Nov. 29, 2018.

How police came to the point of identifying the suspects was not included in last week’s release.

In the original news release (Jan. 23), Desmarais RCMP said at about 4:00 a.m. on Jan. 18, somebody broke windows at the Oski Pasikoniwew Kamik School “and set a storage shed on fire and vandalized several other vehicles on the Bigstone Cree Nation.”

The release included grainy images of the culprits doing their dirty work. Police asked for help in identifying them. They said an attempt was made to steal a school bus. The suspects fled on foot. Damage was estimated at $15,000.
