Big boost from the Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club of Slave Lake shut down earlier this year due to a shortage of participation. One thing it did have was some cash from a casino last fall, so it recently gave the money away to other organizations in Slave Lake. One of them was the Slave Lake Native Friendship Centre, in the amount of $13,537. Pictured are Friendship Center Executive Director Barb Courtorielle, accepting the cheque from Angeline Blackmore (left) and Linda Munroe (right) of the Boys & Girls Club.
The Slave Lake Boxing Club got some financial help recently from the Slave Lake Boys & Girls Club. The latter organization has closed down and had to disburse its remaining cash to not-for-profit organizations. The $1,500 donation will go towards the purchase of belts for the Diamond Belt Championship, which the local boxing club is hosting on Nov. 2. Accepting the cheque is boxing coach Lee Tanghe, from Angeline Blackmore and Linda Munroe of the Boys & Girls Club.
